Amber den Heyer
From past to present
My passion for horses began in 2004 with my first pony and has remained steadfast ever since.
At the age of 12, I had the incredible opportunity to ride and compete with the pony Wabank. During this time, I achieved several national championships and secured a team silver medal at the AVS European Championships.
By the age of 14, I successfully transitioned from competing in junior categories to riding horses. I experienced early success riding horses such as Daydream (sire: Donnerhall) and Wandurel (sire: Ronaldo), becoming a three-time regional champion and competing four times at the Dutch Championships.
In 2012, I was honored to be named Rabobank Talent of the Year.
After graduating from high school, I dedicated myself to pursuing a professional equestrian career, feeling grateful that I could transform my passion into my profession. I gained my initial professional experience at “Hengstenstation van Uytert,” a renowned name in the equestrian community.
In 2016, I joined Ted Kop Jansen as a stable and competition rider, specializing in Friesian horses, where my appreciation for this breed blossomed. While working with Ted, I successfully competed several Friesian horses up till the medium tour, often achieving scores exceeding 70%. A highlight of my career was winning the European Championship with Kop Jansen Johnny Cash in 2019.
Regrettably, due to a chronic injury, I made the difficult decision to step back from professionally riding multiple horses. While this marked the end of my career as a professional dressage rider, I was fortunate to remain active in the equestrian sport.
Today, I find great fulfillment in training and mentoring my pupils and clients worldwide, allowing me to continue my passion for the sport I love with immense joy.
Based in Vijfhuizen, The Netherlands, I am training my riders up to Grand Prix level, organizing training camps, and delivering educational workshops. I travel internationally each month to support my students, with a particular focus on the Middle East and Canada.
Additionally, I serve as the Technical Manager of the Kuwait Equestrian Federation.
